There are various initiatives on campus designed to help students and create a more just and affordable food system at McGill. Get to know the food groups we are collaborating with:
SNAC (Student Nutrition Accessibility Club)
SNAC is a SSMU service that aims to promote nutrition on McGill’s campus. We run a weekly
free produce distribution to fight food insecurity, host monthly nutrition workshops, and aim
to engage the McGill community in sustainable food systems. Volunteers can help distribute
the Good Food box weekly. A volunteer interest form is linked in the website!

MealCare

diverting food waste from on and off-campus locations and donating it to local food shelters. We also organize events (trivia, sustainable cooking, donation drives, and more) to raise awareness about the cause.

McGill or Montreal community. The meals are vegan and nut free, each with a nutritious main course, a side, and dessert. Volunteers can help out in preparing and serving meals.

Community Kitchen
The McGill Community Kitchen offers an affordable, convenient, and engaging space for students and staff to prepare and enjoy meals together on campus. In just 30 minutes, participants can choose a meal, receive pre-apportioned ingredients and a recipe, cook under the guidance of an expert chef, and enjoy their food in a social setting. The initiative addresses the scarcity of low-cost food options near campus, fosters community among those not living in residence, and promotes mental well-being while imparting valuable culinary skills. It’s a fun and practical solution to enhance campus life and support student health.

MSEG
The Macdonald Student-Run Ecological Gardens (MSEG) is a diversified vegetable farm at McGill University’s Macdonald Campus in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec. Founded in 2009 as a student gardening club, it has since expanded to feed hundreds of members of the McGill, Sainte-Anne, and Montreal communities through 70 weekly CSA baskets and two weekly markets. Entirely student-run, the farm operates from May to October. Students commit to two growing seasons—first as apprentices, then as managers training new apprentices—creating a unique “farmer incubator program” that offers hands-on responsibility and training.
